Bonneville St. Louis Protects Ratings With Burk PPM™ Assurance

St. Louis is among thirteen Arbitron PPM markets scheduled to go live between now and the end of the year.

LITTLETON, MA (6/29/09) - Burk Technology announced delivery of the PPM Assurance automatic recovery system to Bonneville International. The system protects Arbitron® PPM encoding uptime in the corporation’s St. Louis market, which includes stations WARH-FM, WIL-FM and WXOS-FM.

In Arbitron PPM markets, ratings are dependent on continuous encoding of the station’s program. Burk Technology's PPM Assurance protects ratings by achieving automatic backup encoder activation immediately upon failure of the primary encoder. Developed in close collaboration with Arbitron, PPM Assurance employs proven failover logic and uses built-in silence sensing to distinguish the true cause of encoding loss. Routine backup encoder tests assure successful recovery after an actual failure.
